[MOD-Req] Damaged units Retreat

Here is some AI idea, I originally found in Warzone2100.

Retreat function for injured units

All offensive Units should have a function that is called retreat.

This means, that at a certain HP level the unit is retreating to the nearest repair (in this case assistance) station, for repairs.

In Warzone2100 you could set the retreat function to 75%,50%,25% and no retreat.

This will help especially experienced units to live longer, and saves the Player a lot of micromanaging.

I know that this is not directly an AI issue, in the classic sense, but it is AI related, and I think quite useful.

What do you think ?

Anyone able to work on something like this ?|||Your idea makes me wonder if someone could implement the TA unit behavior options. A mod with several options for our units would be nice. Why not have an option for T2 Fighter/bombers to engage land targets during patrols as well?|||Yes it would be possible to make AI units retreat at a certain percentage. The AI com already does this when he gets to 75%.

Having said that Im not sure its a good tactic for other units as repairing them basically takes the same amount as build a new unit so its better not to risk them retreating and to leave them attacking to maximize their damage.

Also I think Fighter/Bombers already to attack land units when on patrol?|||There's a bug with the Janus I'm aware of that keeps it from targetting ground units while on patrol, it's not consistent, but it happens frequently.|||Warzone2100 FTW! what an awesome game, still play to this day.

IMHO, it's not something that everyone will want. in SupCom, damaged units still maintain combat effectiveness. whereas in WZ2100, damaged tanks drove and shot slower. so it paid to withdraw them and have them repaired, not the case in SupCom though.

however, in terms of actually doing this mod (which i would also call an AI mod), one could copy/modify the code that planes have for air-staging platforms. damaged units would then return to the nearest engineer/engineering station before continuing on patrols or orders.

wow, two posts while i was typing this up!
