Support AI?

Is it possible to mod the game in a way that allows a player to play simultaeneously with an AI?



Perhaps by selecting a group of units and setting them to be AI controlled, maybe being able to choose specific task-types or platoon behaviours for them.



Is it possible for any level of integration between human players and an AI?



The question is deliberately vague, I'm thinking of anything from actually sharing command of an army with an established AI to maybe setting up an autonomous factory that will scout and secure a radius around itself.

You could see a rough version in action already by simply cheating - Set 2 ais against each other in a lan game, with you as an observer, then type in the console 'SetFocusArmy 1' without the quote marks. You will then be in command of an AI army, but the AI will keep playing too.



Spliff is working on a mod that was supposed to include some unit AI, but I lost the link to the forum for it... maybe somebody else can provide it (I'd like to see if he's still making progress for myself too).|||I built an AI into a map, which could be used at the same time as a human player - but this would have to be a sim-side mod (meaning every playing in the game would also need to have the same AI mod installed).|||Which map?|||A good example is AoE3, you can co-ordinate tatical moves and set rally points for units and even say things to the ai such as...



"I need help"

"Attack... player #"

"Make more "unit type"

"Get more defence"

"Focus on econ"



Its basicly ownage when you feel that the ai also knows what you are doing :O



"Danza, I will be following your army into battle"



I was like...WTF|||Was this a separate AI commander or did the AI share the same army as yourself?



Being able to communicate and coordinate with the AI would be cool but I was thinking more along the lines of AI's/players sharing the same units and performing different functions. Mainly as I hate micro!



I'd love to see a mod where you could make entirely strategic level decisions, e.g "expand economy at this area" "make an arty firebase here" "scout this base then attack in this way". Templates will make this a lot easier for me but I think a different way could be cool too.|||It should be really easy to mod the AI to build everything, scout, build units, build expansion bases, but leave it to you to use the units to attack, harass, and carry out missions. Would require cheating to be enabled, but should be doable.|||I've been reading this, and It sounds really interesting.



Of course maybe I should finish my brent_AI before looking at making any others ... :roll:
