I am interested in modding the textures for some Supreme Commander vanilla/Forged Alliance units/structures. What program should I use to open them? I've tried paint and GIMP, and neither work.
Also, does modding of textures cause problems in multiplayer? I'm not planning on adding or taking away files, just editing existing ones.|||Nvidia provides a .dds plugin for Photoshop, but it also works with Paint Shop Pro at least. Plugins may also be available for GIMP or whatnot, I suggest you google dds plugin with the software of your choice.
Not sure about that multiplayer thing... does the game check if the file sizes match or something? otherwise it can't possibly check the content of said images so makes sense it doesn't care beyond that.|||Paint.net is by far the best for .DDS files. I use it all the time now, it works wonders.
As Kirves has said, There is a .DDS Plugin for Photoshop, but you need to have photoshop to begin with. Paint.net is free =p
