Instabuilt AI Bases

Hmm, an interesting idea for a mod would be to mimic the campaign missions where you have to gate in and assault an established AI base.



It'd also avoid some of the issues and foolishnesses of the SCFA AI.



I wonder if its possible to have an AI mod where at the start of the game (possibly before the game even actually begins) the AI quickly slaps down a T3 base & expansions using templates and instabuild.



And then the AI code is written to start off as not particularly aggressive, and become more so as the player becomes a greater threat.|||ohhh.. this would be way kosh|||AdmiralZeech|||i'm keen, you could have competitions to kill the enemy base/s in the least amount of time.



i don't know anything about AI modding, but if anyone were to do it i'd recommend looking at the Chess mod, it spawn's units and it could be a starting point to spawn buildings and an entire base.|||This is an interesting idea for a mod... although I suggest both you and the AI start with the same units for fairness.



The function is OnSpawnPreBuiltUnits in the aibrain.lua file if anyone wants to do this.



If you give me a list of things (facs and units) you would like the prebuilt start to include I can probably set up a quick mod for it.



I guess a lobby option to only prebuild for the AI is possible too if you want to build your base from scratch - although as soon as the AI has you scouted it will attack with whatever it has... but I guess thats part of the challenge ;-)



EDIT: Just remembered AdmiralZeech is a modder so he can probably put it together himself just by looking at the function I mentioned.|||How about the AI gets a base smacked down, and you gate in, but have a "friendly and off-map ally" transport in units for you? Like say a few T3 units and maybe an experimental if you're close enough. Though that would require scripting...
