1. 3 humans vs 4 Sorian (1.9.9d) cheating Rush
2. 3 humans vs 4 regular cheating rush w/ Sorian uninstalled from gamedata directory
3/4/5. 2 humans vs 4 regular cheating rush (rotating pairs A/B, B/C, A/C)
All 5 scenarios failed. Then we tried vs the non-cheating AI and it worked fine. We then played a bunch of games and it seemed like as long as we avoid the cheating AI we don't get any desyncs.
Is this a known issue? Anything else we can try to play against the cheating AI? Any logs we can look at to tell what causes the desync?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks|||If you are using cheatoptions mod you will all need to have the same modifiers set I think.|||You all need to have the same version of each AI you intend to use.
You all need to have the same version of LEM or aisupport mod.
You all need to have the same version of the cheat options mod.
You all need to make sure you don't have any other sim side mods installed that someone else does not.|||ehm can't it be bypassed by setting cheat multiplier + build mulitplier both to 2.0
so that whenever you have AIx (nobody has custom AI's installed) present in games. You'd need to set the cheatoptions to the default GPG values I think. So that if you have cheatoptions installed and are the host. Setting it to the default values could possibly fix your issues you are having.|||That makes sense. Here's what I think happened.
1. We downloaded the mods and changed the cheatoptions to something other than the defaults. Everything worked fine as we were all in sync.
2. We uninstalled the mods and just played with sorian for a while. Everything still fine.
3. One of us reinstalled the game which reset the values to the defaults. Didn't play against the cheating ai for a while and didn't have the cheatoptions mod installed so forgot we changed the values. Now everytime we play with cheating ai we get a desync.
I have 2 machines so I thought I would run a test. Both are new installs so initially everything works. Load up the mods and change the cheatoptions from 2.0 to 1.2 on the host. Start a game and get a desync. So far that makes sense.
Remove all the mods (sorian, LEM, cheatoptions) and do the same as before expecting it would retain the cheatoptions previously set and get a desync but it does not. Everything works fine without all the mods installed.
This leads me to question the fact that the cheatoptions that were changed via the mod are used when the mod is not installed. I know the values are retained as when I put the mod back in they show up. I just don't know if they need the mod to get loaded into a non-mod game.
Where are these values stored? I couldn't find a property file. Is it in the registry (on XP)?
Maybe running a multiplayer LAN game is not a good enough test or maybe I'm missing a step.
Any suggestions are welcome and thanks for all the work on the mods.|||bluefox352|||maybe try 1 computer without the cheatoptions mod installed and 1 computer with it installed. (The computer that doesn't have cheatoptions should never have had it installed preferably).
Now the person having cheatoptions mod hosts a game. and changes values to 1.2 and 1.8. now other player joins. Just add some AIx to the game. and launch.
If it desync, try to do the same but pick 2.0 and 2.0 as cheat/build-multiplier.
is it still desyncing ??? if so maybe check if you have the other options that were added at their normal default values.|||I think the problem was that one of us had the cheatoptions mod installed but not LEM so they didnt notice. When we all installed cheatoptions then everything was fine. Didn't try to see what happens if we all had it uninstalled.
I looked everywhere but could not find any file that had the preferences stored in them. I don't have a file called game.prefs in my filesystem. Does anyone know the exact location and if it is human readable?|||Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\
