Thanks.|||I guess you did not look at this forum before you posted a message. There is an FA Sorian AI 0.9 that is out. It is still in beta. There is also a mod that fixes the FA stock AI. You can find it also in this forum.

talk show host|||zorin1|||By and chance are you playing on a water map? I know that Sorian has made some speed improvements to the FA Sorian AI. It might help Sorian out if you can give some detail of where you are seeing the sim speed problem.
talk show host|||it doesnt matter what AI i use, FA is about -5 simspeed slower than supcom. its just how the whole AI works in FA. If sorian is based off of the standard FA AI, then that is the "problem." The Supcom Vanilla AI was much simpler and runs faster. However, FA has better graphics, more units, and DOESNT CRASH every 10 minutes like supcom does. That is why I like FA better.|||The simple fact that sorian prefered ditching all his vanilla on work instead of port it to FA should answer your question.
All in all giving vanilla AI a refreshing is not going to cut it. From a modder point of view it is not worth it, a lot of the changes we would have had to code in vanilla have been coded by gpg dev team in FA Ais.
If anything, you can lobby on Gpg so that they fix the hangs, bugs, typos and slowdowns in their stock Ai.
I am not very optimistic about a modder taking on your project. But who knows.
I think on the other hand that modders wills do whatever they can to reduce hangs and speed things up as best as possible with their work on FA Ais.|||Actually it may be possible to use the SC AI with FA as DFS noted in his AI thread that the old PBM (Platoon build manager - controls the building of units) and the old AM (Attack manager - controls how units attack) are still in the code base, but turned off.
Of course the new build manager and attack ai code are better so why go back? Sure the new FA AI seems to use a bit more CPU, but then I'd rather that and have a better AI.|||Ajunta|||well you must be crazy to want an inferior AI ported over? the amount of CPU required by the FA AI is minimally more than the original SC AI. The main thing is FA requires more rendering power which may be causing your computer to slow down.|||Quote:|||Machater|||Ajunta|||Quote:|||Ajunta|||Ajunta|||Thanks for all the tips. I had already determined that the video card is not the bottleneck which is a good thing. I will try the sound card next. just thought of something else too that might help with my troubleshooting - ever since the latest supcom vanilla patch, i have no animations on the main menu... its just a black screen. Is this indicative of any problems you can think of?
Also, and this probably belongs in another thread but you have all been very helpful, when i use madboris' method to let vista use more than 2gb of RAM, i go into the command prompt and type the bcedit message that ends in /2900... a window pops up and hten disappears immediately. is there any way to tell if that actually worked or not? I can verify that the changes to supremecommander.exe was updated successfully.|||if you just type the bcdedit and leave off the /increaseuserva 2900 then you should get a list of a bunch of stuff, in there you will see a line that has the "increaseuserva 2900"
if it worked.|||Lurkah|||Machater|||sorian
