[:1]First off and let this be known, I really dissapprove of what Chris did with the Supreme Commander IP - extremely bad call on many fronts.
Another thing is that I heard that he sold the IP to Square.. but maybe it's a rumor.
On to the testing....
So i figured I'd put it to the test if Sorian had his hand in SC2. So i head over to scirmish and ran through 10 games or about that. Each time I built nothing but a Naval base, 2 pgens, 2 mexs, and then sent 3 or 4 cruisers to the enemy base (not that hard to find on these maps), the game ended in maybe 10 minutes or a little more. What happens is that in every case (100% of the time), the cruisers will park off shore and start shelling the enemy base, the commander will walk out to the water, sit there and watch the ship he's targeting, his reach is too short to hit the ship, and he can't walk into deep water. a few minutes he starts walking back to base, stops in the center and blows up from the shelling. this is with 3 cruisers. I saved replays if needed and this is on 'hard'. I built no combat units of any kind, nor did i upgrade the naval base. I seriously doubt that Sorian had any hand in this (based on his previous works).
I gave up any ideas of playing naval based games with the Ai.. and considering you have a whole 2 ships to play with and no torpedo launchers (as I just found out).. there's no point in it.|||I think it's hard to judge the ai from a response to a single tactic. And if the AI in SC2 is similarly built as in SP1 then it wont change tactics depending on units types.|||steinar96|||The AI in generall has many flaws as of now. Has anyone seen the AI build Nuke defences? Either my games have ended because of Nuke flying all over the place or the AI never build Nuke defences.
The AI hardly builds experimentals but rushes to nukes (not defences)
If you pull nukes from the game they start building experimentals.
The AI flys Transporters to their death into my AA defence. What for?
Haven't seen them ever unload units..they are pure canon fodder at present.
The AI hardly ever attacks undefended or poorly defended mass extractors.
It once whiped half of my base including my nuke defence but A. hasn't launched a nuke at me but previously did many time and B. left my nuke silo standing.
I watched the AI shoot Units into Oblivion with the Noah canon. And they fell and fell into a bottomless pit.
The AI lacks in weakpoint scouting or killing you of at those points with enough units.
AI hardly ever uses mixed forces. Mostly uses Air forces...secondary land units.
They hardly attack you from multiple sides...mostly they bash against your main front what's not an option. I can leave my backyard 90% undefended.
The AI has greatly improved over SC 1 but is still far to weak/predictable and flawed. I hope it get's far better over time.
