Is it just me? One sided AI :?

Im still quite new to the game, Ive had a go on quite a few skermishes now. But Ive found somthing quite annoying with the AI in game.

I found "Easy" AI just to easy, I could thrash it in a couple of mins.

Medium AI was pretty much the same, accept it would progress through the tech levels a bit more if I left it to it.

Both of these tech levels never seem to attack, Medium will build heavy artillery after a good hour of gaming if I leave there base untouched, otherwise, it will just build tons of Enginneers and not do much. Occasionally if im lucky it will build an experimental unit and try and attack, by wich time im so far through the game it will get knowere before its destroyed.

But then if I select Supreme AI its too difficlt, I find its bombarding me with artillery and units before im even started, wich is obvoiusly ok, as thats the idea of the game. But I cant find and middle ground to practice with, its either to easy, I just build away and take then out within a couple of mins, or struggle to last much more then 10 mins before theres some experimental unit in my base, I can normally defeat it but it leaves my base is such a mess, the next attack they make normally finishes me off. So I cant really get any decent practice up.

Does anybody else find this? The fact that the differences in the AI's are too vast. Are there any mods or new AI's I can get hold of that will sort this problem out?|||I agree, the difference between the default AIs is far too big. The current easy is a waste of space, you may as well play sandbox. Medium should be labelled easy, and there needs to be a medium somewhere between current medium and hard. It's not a huge problem though, since the hard AI really isn't that hard, you should be able to beat it in no time. One way to improve would be to play against a Sorian AI with no fog of war, and basically just copy what it does.

Download the merged pack, the Brent AI and the Rommel AI in there are tagged as medium difficulty, I have to admit to not having played either of them in a long time though, so I don't know how they compare to the GPG supreme AI.

Bean/Tortuga/Sorian/Duel are all much harder.|||Yeah, the current Brent_AI is a good medium level AI.

In fact, I think its a good fit for new players too.

It will sort of turtle and tech up, until launching 1 big attack part way into the game for the human player to defend against.

Then it tends to sit on its hands until you come try to break in its base.

I'm presently working on a new Brent_AI, when I don't get frustrated and give up for weeks at a time that is.

My new version I intend to be a hard difficulty, but I think I will have a medium difficulty version in the release as well because there is such a need for it.|||Thanks for your input guys, all download those AI's and give it a go then. I'll let you know if there any better soon.

Its a shame that a game with such a following and history still has one big week link like this really. It makes for the ones of us that cant really play on the net just yet, (mainly due to the spec of my comp) not really be able to enjoy the game properly in the mean time!|||well after some time you will find the supreme Ai easy so you will play again 5 of them teamed together and find it dull too , then you will download custom Ai and find them difficult enough then you will adapt and trash them consitently as well...

Ai needs to learn....|||I had a go with the new AI's, noticed a big improvement in the game play. Cheers for your help!|||read about it on these forums and once I started doing it I trash most AIs. Sorian 2.6 1v1 cheating can be tough though.

Build 2x Pgen. 2x Mass Extractor, 2x Land factory, 1x Land factory spam engin infinite queue, 1x spam tech one units infinite queue

have the engs go cap all the mass and build power gens and get two more factories spamming tech 1 units then proceed as you will from there.

You'll probably be caning default hard AI in 20 mins once you get the hand of it.|||last game on a 40 km map with 7 AI and me

i was testing my memory under load figured this would be a good test for my system to make supcom work for hours so i launched the game put my commander on the side of the map and went playing racket ball,

when i came back 2 hours later i was glad : no Blue screen RAM had worked okay and my commander was still alive as well as 3 of the 7 AIs and the game was still going on. AIs were throwing nukes at each other and exp. I said to myself why no try to trash them i strated to build a base in the corner where i was one hour later i was throwing waves of 10 colossus or 20 ksars toasting the hell out of their bases..... i had nothing for defense but 3 sams one smd and 5 strat bombers and a couple of radar jammers......

mind you they have had 2 hours and a half to send a single strat bomber and put me out of the game but that was maybee not enough.|||last game on a 40 km map with 7 AI and me assassination mode.
